{"id":1395,"date":"2017-03-20T09:01:59","date_gmt":"2017-03-20T14:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev-mhisolutionsmag.officialdirectory.com\/?p=1395"},"modified":"2017-06-09T13:20:11","modified_gmt":"2017-06-09T18:20:11","slug":"ofs-sessions-at-promat-focus-on-best-in-class-order-fulfillment-and-omnichannel-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mhisolutionsmag.com\/index.php\/2017\/03\/20\/ofs-sessions-at-promat-focus-on-best-in-class-order-fulfillment-and-omnichannel-solutions\/","title":{"rendered":"OFS Sessions at ProMat Focus on Best-in-Class Order Fulfillment and Omnichannel Solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1354\" src=\"http:\/\/dev-mhisolutionsmag.officialdirectory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/300p-shutterstock_484916758-300x157.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" \/>MHI\u2019s Order Fulfillment Solutions (OFS) Industry Group is presenting two must-see sessions this year at ProMat 2017 in Chicago: a review of the \u201clatest and greatest\u201d solutions on the show floor and practical ways to approach omnichannel distribution centers.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, April 3, Ed Romaine, vice president, sales and marketing at MHI Member SI Systems, will be presenting the session, \u201cNewest Order Fulfillment Pick, Pack &amp; Ship Technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cManufacturers are designing systems that increase efficiencies while reducing costs by minimizing labor and space requirements, and that, in turn, provides great return on investment,\u201d Romaine says.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the latest technologies that will be at ProMat include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A pick-to-tote A-Frame system that can fill 4,200 orders an hour. The throughput is tremendous and requires zero picking labor, Romaine says.<\/li>\n<li>A vertical buffer goods-to-person system that stores a range of bins or trays that can be retrieved as needed. It provides very high-density storage, and the inventory stored can be brought out to a work station, picked and then returned, or the tote can be routed via conveyor and picked from a remote location.<\/li>\n<li>A sorter system that can handle a much wider range than other sorters\u2014from very small items to large items.
