Released in April at MODEX, the fifth annual report analyzed the input of more than 1,100 manufacturing and supply chain leaders regarding industry trends and the current and potential impact of 11 key next generation technologies on their operations.<br \/>\nOne of the key points in the report discusses a discrepancy between the anticipated and actual adoption rates of many of the technologies. That is to say, when the 2014 survey respondents were asked to what degree the technologies would be adopted within five years, their projections far outpaced actual adoption rates four years later.<\/p>\n<p>The report notes that this is a well-documented and common occurrence among transformational technologies, citing the Internet\u2019s slog through many years of slow adoption rates before making a massive impact on our daily personal and work lives.
