If you’re in warehousing and logistics, you know the importance of people, especially in today’s fast‑paced global supply chain. Helping individuals and teams—from management to the warehouse floor—build their knowledge, effectively assess operations and engage with others in the field is why the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) exists.

As a division of MHI, WERC has expanded its reach to more companies and warehousing practitioners than ever before. Since our founding in 1977, WERC is the only professional organization focused on warehousing, distribution center and fulfillment operations—and its role in the greater supply chain. WERC helps members gain the practical knowledge, skills and experienced network they need to improve, adapt and deliver value for their organizations.werc

Yet WERC is never content with the status quo. Like our members, the organization continuously strives to improve, said Arch Thomason, chief executive officer at Sunland Logistics Solutions and president of the WERC Advisory Council. He’s been a member of WERC since 1995.

“WERC has introduced significant enhancements this year, including the innovative Team Membership model,” he noted. “There are three new Team Membership offerings—detailed on WERC’s newly redesigned website at werc.org/join—that are enabling WERC to generate even greater value for companies by giving more employees access to member benefits at exclusive pricing.”

Team memberships include:

  • Team Pro for teams of up to five individuals. Team Pro is ideal for small teams, startup companies and entry‑level engagement. Dues are $6,000 per year.
  • Team Xtra for teams of up to 25 individuals. Team Xtra is optimal for mid‑size teams and their leadership wanting more engagement. Dues are $15,000 annually.
  • Team Elite for teams of up to 50 individuals. Team Elite is perfect for large teams seeking expanded cross‑functional engagement. Annual dues are $25,000.

Thomason said his company is excited about the Team Memberships, noting the optimized pricing structure enables more employees to benefit from WERC’s educational opportunities.

“By leveraging these additional resources, we can foster the growth and development of a larger group of leaders, helping them enhance their skills and industry knowledge,” he added. “WERC’s new Team Membership model aligns perfectly with our goal to scale professional development across teams and support leadership growth within our organization. We look forward to making the most of these resources to drive operational excellence and leadership capabilities.”

Of course, WERC still offers membership options for individuals (including practitioners, consultants and suppliers), educators and students.

WERC Team Memberships Include “Gold Standard” Essential Warehouse Training

As a key component of helping member organizations grow both industry skills and knowledge among their ranks, Team Memberships include access to all six modules of WERC’s Distribution Logistics Education Program.

This stackable, micro‑credentialing program features six separate courses, each concentrating on a different aspect of distribution logistics facilities. After covering the fundamentals, learners can then explore equipment, safety, operations, metrics and labor management. Upon completing each course, participants earn a certificate and digital badge. Once they finish all six courses, they receive a WERC certificate for warehousing education. Additional details are available at werc.org/getcertified.

WERC’s Distribution Logistics Education Program is quickly becoming the gold standard in training for the essential skills needed for workers in the warehousing and distribution center space. Why? Because its curriculum was planned and developed by WERC members, making it a practical resource that gives users real‑world insights and skills.
